Telephone Triage


The recent outbreak of Covid- 19 is placing new and increasing challenges on all our member practices and our primary concern is to ensure the safety of our patients and staff

For the very same reason this practice, in line with all those in the area, has decided to put measures into place as pre-emptive contingencies to reduce and minimise the risks with transmission. This risk is for you as our patient but also for the staff who work here in the practice.

These measures may vary slightly in individual practices but we ask for you co-operation and patience in supporting the actions. This will ensure that we are still able to deliver the necessary care to all our patients.

National guidance from NHS England has mandated that all online booking appointments are suspended across the country. The reason we have done this is that this mitigates any potential risk of infected patients booking an appointment online and attending the surgery.

Instead, all appointments will be triaged in the first instance. Telephone triage is a process that facilitates signposting and the giving of relevant clinical advice. Face to face appointments will be booked when agreed during this triage/initial consultation with either a GP or Nurse. The facility to use online eConsult and requesting prescriptions online is still available to all patients. If you cannot use eConsult please ring the practice and one of our patient advisors will complete the forms for you whilst you are on the phone. You will then be rung back by the clinician who is doing the triage.

We would like to reassure all our patients that we are continuing to work with NHS England, the CCG and Public Health to make sure that what we are doing is always in the best interest of our patients and our staff.
